When looking at drone market, one of the world’s most dynamic and promising markets, we have to mention Shenzhen-based DJI Innovations Technology Co, one of the giants in the world industry.

Foreign media showed great interest when they visited the company on April 20th. Most of them already knew its fame and tried to learn something new through the visit.

Headquartered in Shenzhen, widely considered as China’s Silicon Valley, DJI benefits from its direct access to the suppliers, raw materials, and young, creative talents. It has grown from a single small office in 2006 to a global workforce of over 3,000 with offices in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, China’s Beijing and Hong Kong.

“Currently DJI has taken up 70% of the world’s consumer drone market. Most of our products are about oneyear ahead of others, considering an average RD cycle of one year,” Fancy Zhang, PR Specialist told the media.

Fancy said that DJI puts the greatest effort in RD, but he couldn’t disclose the exact number. “It is the most important sector of our company.”

Although there are more and more new companies joining the industry, Fancy disagreed that the market has turned to red-ocean strategy. “I would say it’s too soon to conclude it a red-ocean market. It is still a new one with infinite potentials. It’s true that there are more competitors, but DJI welcomes more of them to join in and work together to educate, nurture the market. To make it big”.

“For the industry, this year is considered the first year of a new era,” Fancy told Newsgd.com. “Agriculture sector is our new focus. Also we are cooperating with our partners to build up a whole industrial chain. Customers can get financial loan service, flying training and maintenance service from DJI,” explained by Fancy.

Huawei, the third largest small phone brand in the world, is another innovativecompany in Shenzhen. “Huawei is the number one international patent filter in the world. Our total RD investment in the past decade amounted to 30.7 billion USD,” Roland Sladek, vice president of International media affairs told foreign media.

Den Daas from Dutch Financial Daily said that this was his second time to visit Huawei. “Compared to last visit, now 4G has become 5G, and more new products are coming out and the company is moving forward.”

According to Den Daas, the advantage for Shenzhen in innovative business is that the region is a big manufacturing center. It is easier for start-up companies to get ideas into scale production in a cheaper way.
